Miles had an appointment this morning for his "growing" skin rash. His baby acne got better, but then it seemed to return with a vengeance, but only on his forehead. He is rubbing and scratching at it all the time. Plus he has developed a rash on his arms, legs, and chest. It's not a red rash..more like dry skin. He had been scratching at that as well. I figured it was just eczema. I'm not sure what the pedi diagnosed it as since I didn't take him. She gave Sean written instructions (glad she did, otherwise I'd have no idea what to do). Miles weighed 11lbs at this visit. Sean took Macey with him to the doctor's visit, so it was just me and Camryn left at home. I was reminded how easy it is to just have one baby and it was way too quiet.
This afternoon I was playing with the kids in Macey's room. Macey got one of her baby dolls, then I put it in a burrito wrap with a blanket. I got distracted trying to comfort Miles and the next time I look up Macey had gotten into the rocking chair. She had her baby doll laying beside her and was reading "Goodnight Moon" (which is one of the books I read to her every night for bedtime). This evening as I was loading the dishwasher and Sean was making Macey dinner, Macey decided to get into the clothes that I had just folded (she loves to "help" out). She went straight to the pile of my folded underwear. When I looked back over at her she had about five pairs up her legs and was trying to put on more. These are the moments that make you forget about the screaming, running to her room and shutting the door behind her moments.

Singing, talking, screaming...
Macey has become our little concert performer. She made up a song last weekend (Oh Be Da Ba is what she called it) and performed it over and over while dancing around the room. We cheered for her each time she finished singing, which of course prompted an encore performance. She's now adapted her song to one note screamed...er, I mean...sung really loud (so loud her little vein in her neck pops out). Some days I think I'm dealing with a teenager with all the drama she can display. Besides the high energy singing performances, we also get screaming and running to a room and shutting the door behind her. These types of dramatic performances are usually triggered by hearing the word "no" or because of not being responded to immediately after she asked for something. Don't we all feel like that sometimes...
Miles, on the other hand, talks pretty much nonstop. He even talks when he's eating. Anything to get attention. Which I truly think is the case for him. He thinks he needs to be the center of attention at all times. I don't remember Macey being this vocal at 3 months and she's a little chatter box now...if Miles continues on this path of talking all the time he really will be EXACTLY like his dad. He also thinks that after he wakes for that early morning feeding he only needs to sleep in his bed for another hour, then he needs to lay by me in order to sleep (okay, so maybe I perpetuate this one, but at least I'm getting another hour or so of sleep and when you have two babies at once you have to seize every moment you can get to spend one on one time with each one).
Camryn has found her niche in squealing/screaming. I am not joking when I say that the squeals that come out of her could break glass. I seriously cannot believe sounds like that are coming from something so small. She can hold her own in a scream-off with Macey. Macey wasn't a squealer and didn't start doing the high pitched squealing (you know, the excited girl squeal) until she was much older (closer to a year). She also has a "fear" of Macey (not sure if fear is the right word). The other day I was letting Macey hold the babies and every time I'd put Camryn in Macey's lap, Camryn would start screaming (not crying, but screaming) and making a distressed face. I couldn't help but laugh.
Sean and I are amazed at the personalities of each of our children and couldn't be any prouder of them.

My babies are 3 months old today
Miles my little worrier, talker, muscle man and Camryn my soft spoken, excited squealer, dainty little lady. Our lives will forever be better now that we have them.

Clothes are optional...
That is if you ask Macey. She's in the stage of taking her clothes off. I don't fight her on it since there are bigger battles to fight with her and I know that she will not be 8 and still taking her clothes off randomly (let's not get into that discussion). She was taking her clothes off and Sean was going to make her stop. I just told him I don't fight her on it. It's a stage, she's learned something new and wants to be more independent. She'll get over it and there's no way I can reason with a 19 month old, so she goes shirtless quite a bit, well obviously not when we are in public (I'm not that bad of a parent).
Speaking of clothes, I had to laugh when my friend Julie commented on the fact that Miles was laying on a pink blanket in one of the pictures I posted. I didn't even notice he was on a pink blanket. That happens often with both of them (Camryn on a boy blanket). And I will confess that Miles has worn girl clothes and bibs and Camryn has worn boy clothes and bibs. In fact, in that same post Camryn has on a "boy" onesie. Seriously, at 4am when I have to change their clothes or put on a bib, I am not going to spend that extra energy to make sure the clothes match the gender. Heck, even when I'm getting them dressed for bed with the lights on. Or even in the middle of the day, I put whatever bib is available on them. So Miles has worn bibs that say "glamor girl" and Camryn has worn bibs that say "sweet baby boy" (man, do I have some stories on them already or what). Of course I don't take them out in public with clothes that are "wrong", but at home anything goes. Sean is aware and doesn't care which surprised me, but he completely understands what it means to have twins and understands that any short cuts or time savers are needed. What is funny to me is that we still get asked which is the boy and which is the girl when we are out or asked if we have two girls or two boys. You mean the one with the headband on is the girl? Or the one in the PINK and green car seat is the girl and the one in the BLUE and grey car seat is the boy? So really I could dress them in anything and we'd still be answering that question. The question that tops all questions is "Are they identical" even after they know that one is a boy and one is a girl. Okay, so if you didn't know that identical meant EVERYTHING has to be identical, now you do. And just to put your mind at ease, when I do get asked that question (and I do and more often than you think) I just simply say, "no, they are not." I leave the biology out of it. While were on the topic of twin education...it is on the woman's side of the family that dictates the incidence of "naturally occurring" twins (although there are other factors that can produce twins i.e. woman's age, woman's race, etc., but all have to do with the woman) I've had this discussion lots...the man has nothing to do with the woman producing 2 eggs...hmm. Identical twins happen spontaneously and isn't something that "runs in the family". Whew...got that off my chest...LOL!

Checking in
We're still around and juggling babies and chasing a toddler. Sean has taken over the new camera so this will be a boring picture-less post.
We've enjoyed spending time with family and friends over the holidays. Travelling with the kid mix that we have is not ideal especially this year, but worth it to be able to share our kids with everyone.
Miles and Camryn are doing well. Miles loves to talk and talk loud. Camryn is soft spoken, except when she gets excited then she's a squealer. Both babies are sleeping well. They still go out around 7pm or 8pm and wake up around 2-4am (mostly 3am). The past couple of days they've been sleeping until 5am and 6am...we'll see how long that lasts. They'll eat at that time then go back out for another 3 or 4 hours, then it's wake up time. They haven't been the greatest at taking naps. Some days they'll do a 2 hour marathon nap together, but most days they don't nap very long or nap at the same time. I'm not complaining because sleeping so much at night means less sleep during the day which I love. I hope they keep up the great night sleeping. They both enjoy their baths every evening. Miles sits back and enjoys it while Camryn becomes a little wiggle worm.
Sean finally bought into the bedtime routine that I instituted which means that he can now put Macey down for the night with no screaming. Nap time is a different story, even I cannot put her down without her screaming. She just doesn't want to slow down during the day and rest. She'll go to sleep, but she definitely protests nap time. The other day she decided that she didn't need to sleep during nap time. She wasn't crying, but she'd periodically yell "Mommy...Daaaad". I told Sean that nap time is at least an hour, what she does in that hour is up to her. If she chooses not to sleep, so be it, but she needs the rest (and so do I). I came up to watch her on the monitor when she wouldn't go to sleep. I had to laugh at her. She wasn't upset, just wasn't going to sleep. She was playing with her blanket, putting it over the side of the crib, and just doing anything to stay busy enough not to fall asleep.
I'll try to wrangle the camera long enough from Sean to download/take some pictures of the babies.
