Cooking fun and more

Macey has become a little cook. She loves to follow me around in the kitchen and get in the drawer and pull out the measuring cups and spoons and stir, stir, stir. She has to give me a bite and we say "mmmm". Then it's back to stirring and stirring and more tasting "bite" and "mmmmm". I gave her little plastic bowls and filled one with dry rice and the other with dry oatmeal and let her go at it. She had a blast. Made a big mess, but it was worth it. She was quite occupied with her cooking adventure.

Macey and Camryn may have made a connection. They will giggle and talk back and forth with each other. It is one of the greatest thing in the world to watch. Sean told me today that Macey was cracking up because Camryn was blowing spit bubbles. Miles and Camryn love to look at each other. It's funny to watch them on the floor together. They've moved into their crib and sleep feet to feet. Well, actually they lay with their legs between each others. They don't wake each other up. Miles is the more restless sleeper and Camryn is oblivious to his noises.

I'll see if I can download some pictures to post when Daddy brings the camera back. ;-)

Facts about my babies..

My babies are so different and I love each of their little personalities. How blessed are we to get to enjoy these amazing little people!

Macey
  • Loves dogs. "Wheresdadog" has become one of her favorite questions. Not only does she love to see our dogs, but loves to look out her window at the dogs in the neighbor's yard.
  • Usually takes all of her night clothes off, including her diaper, by morning time. And she doesn't undo her diaper, she just slips it off.
  • Has already learned that if Momma says no, go ask Daddy because he always says yes.
  • Has become a little momma to Miles and Camryn. She puts pacifiers back in their mouths, helps with bottles, puts the blanket over their carseat when we are headed out the door, wipes their faces when they throw up...just to name a few.
  • Gives the best kisses...puckered lips and all.
  • Has become Mommy's little helper and totes her step stool everywhere Mommy goes to help her.
Miles:
  • Doesn't like to be left "alone" (aka Mom/Dad is out of sight). He will complain until you come back into view.
  • Loves for me to play "boo, I see you" with him. He laughs hysterically when we play.
  • Will let you know that he needs more attention and is very persistent at doing so. This isn't a crying fest, it's an incessant complaining tone in his voice.
  • Talks when he eats, sleeps, just about nonstop. His talking becomes background noise as he is always making some kind of noise. He will talk your ear off and give you lots of smiles while doing so.
  • Relaxes at bathtime. He literally becomes a different kid in the bath.
  • Is hard to hold as he will stiffen up and squirm his way around. Sean said it best..."I didn't know 'bouncing baby boy' meant this"

Camryn

  • Loves to sleep. I have to wake her up most of the time because her brother is ready to eat and she's still snoring away.
  • Is picky about what she will wear. This kid will scream hysterically to let you know that the outfit you have put on her is unacceptable. Princess Camryn gets her way about clothes already.
  • Has such a sweet, soft voice and gives such a big smile.
  • She finds humor in simple things. She will laugh at you just talking to her.
  • Spends her time on the floor rolling and rolling and gets mad at Miles when he gets in her way (Miles rolls too, but he's content to pull at the toys for a while first).
  • Thinks that bathtime is time to jump and squirm. Water excites her.

When I came back to our bathroom after putting Macey down for the night here's what I found.

Pictures, pictures, pictures...

Wow

Baby A and Baby B, now known as Miles and Camryn, are 4 months old today. As every other mother does, I look back to the day they were born when each milestone is reached and lament at how much they have grown and how fast it has gone. Here are a few pictures of what 4 month old twins look like.

And here are a few pictures to see their growth.

They are 10 days old in this picture

Vent...

For those people that say..."you will survive, you are not the first and certainly not the last people to have twins (multiples)" and they don't have multiples themselves...they've got some guts. That's like me opining on the next space exploration. Or me offering advice to someone who has a life threatening illness that I've never experienced myself ("Thousands of people have survived this, you can too"). No, the kids are not illnesses, but it's just funny how people think that they should offer advice looking in with their rose colored glasses. Maybe I should offer them to come and live in my world for a day, week, or month. Maybe they wouldn't say such cavalier things about a topic that they themselves have never walked a day in the same shoes. Ok, yes, we will survive, and yes, we are having a blast, but sometimes the random statements of strangers or even from people you know can get annoying. I mean let me not even begin to explain the logistics of feeding twins and having a toddler to tend to, or loading all the kids in the car (just wait until all of them are mobile), or unloading all the kids by yourself into a triple stroller, or grocery shopping alone with all 3 kids... No, I'm not saying "whoa is me" or "look at me, I'm doing this"...just had to vent about how ignorant some people come across.

Who is who?

So this is easy since the hair thing is a giveaway. I can say that they have different looks, but very very similar.

Under the weather

We're still struggling with colds/sinus/whatever you wanna call it. I've pretty much lost my voice, my throat feels like it's been hit by a train and I have congestion as well. Sean's got a nasty cough and congestion. Macey's got the runny nose, cough at night and when she runs around and gets "heated". The babies have a cough and congestion. I tried to lay Miles down in his car seat tonight, but he wasn't having it. He was tired of sleeping by himself. Every time I laid him down he'd wake up. I tried to see if he'd just go back to sleep, but no such luck. So I moved Camryn out of her car seat and laid them down together. So far so good. I should've known he wasn't going to sleep by himself tonight because he wouldn't do it after the night feedings (insert he slept with me instead) last night.

Miles's rash kept getting worse and worse so I called his pediatrician back to see what she had diagnosed. And lo and behold she did diagnose eczema. What frustrated me is that eczema is an intake or contact allergy and she wasn't going to try to troubleshoot to see what was causing it, instead she just prescribed a higher dosage of hydrocortisone cream. There are side affects to prolonged/continued use of that cream. So since I had a milk allergy as an infant I removed diary from his and my diet and see how he does. Today was the first day. Here is a picture of my baby with the horrible rash. It's all over him...his arms, legs, stomach, a little on his back and it itches as he scratches at it a LOT.
